The Charmer is an intense psychological drama about Esmail, a young Iranian man who is desperately trying to meet women who can secure his stay in Denmark. As time runs out, he falls in love and his past catches up with him.

SYNOPSIS
Esmail (Ardalan Esmaili), is a young, handsome Iranian expat living in Copenhagen. Suave, debonair and a something of a ladies man. Or at least, that’s how he would like to appear, as he trawls the bars and clubs of the Danish capital in search of women. But the truth is bleak – Esmail is an Iranian refugee, living in a shelter and desperately seeking a Danish passport. But this is no ‘Green Card’. Rather, this tightly-wound, slow burning psychological thriller, the feature debut by Danish based Iranian filmmaker Milas Alami, uses Esmail’s plight as a timely and bleak commentary on the social and cultural challenges facing immigrants – and their hosts – in present-day Scandinavia.
